A FELLOWSHIP OF DISCIPLES
Warrendale Bible Chapel (WBC) was founded April 1, 2009 in the Warrendale community of Detroit, Michigan. WBC is the daughter assembly of Grace Bible Chapel (GBC), which traces its roots back to the late Evangelist Berlin M. Nottage. B. M. Nottage was gifted in evangelism and church planting, and the Lord used him to establish many churches in the Detroit area. He had an unwavering conviction that the church must be built up on New Testament principles and not the whimsical trends of popular culture or the shallow religious traditions of most urban churches. Warrendale Bible Chapel was established with these same convictions.
The founding of WBC is nothing short of a miraculous work of God. The church that assembled at the chapel before WBC was Warrendale United Church of the Brethren (WUCB). This assembly of fine Christians who had faithfully ministered in the Warrendale community for many decades had found themselves at a cross-road. The community had changed drastically and the fellowship had diminished to such a degree that it was no longer able to carry on the ministry long term. It was in the light of these circumstances that the leadership made the "Macedonian Call" to GBC.
The decision was not a hasty one; the leadership of WUCB had been following the radio ministry of GBC (The Grace Bible Hour with Pastor Ken Hampton) for well over a year and they'd also paid a visit to the church. They appreciated the biblically sound ministry of GBC so much that they contacted us and informed us of their desire to sign over their chapel to us completely free of charge. When asked why they chose GBC to take up the mantle of this ministry, the answer was simple-to keep the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ alive in the community. The rest is history.

We believe that the founding of Warrendale Bible Chapel is the direct result of the providential guidance of the Holy Spirit. It has been well said that "where the Lord guides the Lord provides." Like Nehemiah, we've been called to a "great work", a work that must not be distracted by the opposition and obstacles of this world. Our focus is simple: build the church of God on the foundation of the Word by the power of the Holy Spirit, and dauntlessly preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to a lost and dead world. |
For the Love of the Truth,
Pastor Daniel Springfield
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord - 1 Corinthians 15:58
