Biblical-Nouthetic Counseling Is Ongoing at Grace
By Sister Fannie E. Johnson
The first Biblical Counseling Training Class at Grace, Self-Confrontation, started January 16, 2006. The participants will readily tell you that they are busy and working hard, digging into the deep treasures of God's Word for answers to daily problems.
The overall objective of Biblical Counseling training is to prepare members of the church body to face the challenge of living in today's world.
The pressure brought by the many unwholesome influences upon personal and interpersonal relationships brings about a requirement for the Christian application of Biblical principles to daily lives.
In specific terms, there are two basic purposes: 1) to assist the individual in meeting his own problems; and 2) to equip the church in the skills of counseling. There is no better guide for modern man than the Eternal Word of God.
There are no better opportunities for Christian witness than those times when we meet people with needs the Scriptures can fulfill.
The program is not intended to produce counselor separated from the ministry of the church, but rather to train Christians within the church in the "how" of counseling individuals with personal or family problems through a proper application of Biblical truth and principles. As the Apostle wrote to the church at Rome, "And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another." Romans 15:14
New classes for Biblical Counseling I and II will be starting mid-August, 2006. Classes are on-going each January and August for 16 weeks each. Please plan to attend. See Sisters Fannie Johnson, Patricia Smiley, Shirley Blanding, or others who are now taking the course for more information. II Timothy 3:16, 17 let’s dive into God’s Word.
